Abstract

A large quantity of distributed new energy sources and power electronic equipment are connected to the distribution network, resulting in critical disturbance to the power quality of the distribution network. Multiple harmonic sources coexisting make the distribution networks' status instable and fluctuating, which increases the difficulty of locating the harmonic sources. In this paper, a multi-harmonic source location method using harmonic state estimation (HSE) based on the orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) algorithm is proposed with the multi-point harmonic measurement information of the power grid. Firstly, the quantity and location of harmonic measurement devices are set by the linear optimization model. The system measurement equation is constructed by the measurement data as the known variable and the injected harmonic current of each node as the unknown variable, according to the topology of the grid and the parameters of the components. The OMP algorithm is introduced to solve the system equation to obtain the estimated value of the harmonic current, which realizes the identification of multiple harmonic sources under the condition of non-global observability. The simulation is conducted on IEEE 33-bus system, which verifies the effectiveness of the proposed method in multiple harmonic sources location.
