Abstract
In the treatment of multiple injuries of the extremities first intensive shock treatment is essential. In the first days treatment and supervision should be carried out in an intensive care unit. Early anticoagulant therapy is advisable. Delayed operative stabilisation of fractures is usually necessary at least when there is marked displacement of the fragments, as in conservative treatment of delayed union or nonunion are frequent.
