Abstract

To the Editor: We report a case of idiopathic CD4+ T lymphocytopenia (ICL) associated with multiple warts responding to interferon alfa. In 2001, a 31-year-old Caucasian man presented with multiple warts on the face, head, and hands of 8 years' duration. He was unsuccessfully treated with topical imiquimod (Aldara 5%), diphenylcyclopropenone, 0.0001% to 2%, and photodynamic therapy. A blood-sample revealed CD4+ T lymphocytopenia of 250/μl. Except for Calvé-Legg-Perthes-syndrome (aseptic necrosis of the femoral head) as a child, the patient had no medical history and no clinical signs of immunodeficiency.
