Abstract

AbstractThis work describes a small Electromagnetic Band Gap-based Filtenna design for Ultra-Wide Band Applications. For increased bandwidth, a coplanar waveguide (CPW) is used. The use of Defected Ground Structure reduces additional resonance (DGS). On the ground, two U slots have engraved. The Electromagnetic Band Gap Structure (EBG) is used to simplify antenna construction while also improving gain. The antenna’s operating frequency is 6.5 GHz. The antenna gain, return loss, and radiation pattern are all investigated. The designed antenna has a return loss of roughly −18 dB and a gain of up to 3.4 dBi. When compared to traditional antennas, the bandwidth is boosted by 18%. The measured and modelled findings are very similar. The prototype features a −8.5 dB return loss. By etching slots on the patch of a standard patch antenna, the current method exhibits the capability of obtaining both good filtering and radiating performance in basic structures. This filtenna is appropriate for high frequency transceivers.KeywordsFiltering antennaUWBFiltersMicrowave
