Abstract

The multiple conversion between LP/sub 01/ and LP/sub 02/ modes, which is induced by both the periodic coupling through photorefractive fiber gratings and the resonance produced by two Fabry-Perot mirrors, is investigated by using coupled-mode theory. The result shows that the mode conversion has a narrow periodic passband spectrum if the period of the grating satisfies the phase-matching condition for the LP/sub 01/ and LP/sub 02/ modes. The conversion peaks are higher in the vicinity of the wavelength of phase-matching condition, but become lower gradually as the wavelength deviates from the phase-matching wavelength.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
