Abstract

Propagation of a near-resonant laser beam in sodium vapor with concentration of ∼10 15 at/cm 3 is found to generate several distinct non-linear, near-resonant, near-axis emissions. Spectral, angular and polarization characteristics of the many emission features obtained with a tunable pulsed dye laser are given.
