Abstract
A study is made of the analytic properties of partial-wave S-matrix elements arising from continuum shell-model calculations with particular emphasis placed on Nth order poles of the S-matrix with N ≧ 2. The dependence of these poles upon the potential parameters and their physical consequences is also investigated.
