Abstract

In Reply.— Behrents and colleagues reemphasize some of the points we made in our article, and so it is difficult for us to find much fault with their ideas. We feel that we presented a strong case for a cause-effect relationship between the beginning of orthodontic treatment and the development of multiple localized pulmonary abscesses whose etiologic agent was an organism found in oral secretions. Behrents and colleagues are not convinced. We stand by our conclusions and invite the readers of Pediatrics to reread our article and decide for themselves.
