Abstract

The special requirements are discussed which need emphasis when multiphase flows in equipment and components are to be predicted. These relate to: 1. (1) The presence of internal structure, resisting the flow. 2. (2) Thermal interactions with the metal and primary fluid. 3. (3) The presence of narrow restrictions, slowing convergence. 4. (4) The fitting of the grid to the geometry. 5. (5) The handling of gravity stratification. 6. (6) The prediction of the flow regime. Of all those, it is the last that is in most need of increased attention.
