Abstract

With more attention paid to the ecological environment, improving the current reservoir operation plans and restoring the rivers’ ecological flow processes, especially during important physiological activities such as fish spawning and migration, have become key targets in reservoir operations. In this study, we set the ecological objective that makes the discharge of the reservoir closer to the natural flow characteristics during the fish spawning period. The database shows historical flow data at the Tangnaihai Station upstream of the Longyangxia Reservoir from 2007 to 2016 before the construction of the Yangqu Reservoir, which is used as the benchmark of the natural flow pattern. Also, the database includes data that supports the visualizations in the manuscripts “Shrinking Pareto Fronts to Guide Reservoir Operations by Quantifying Competition among Multiple Objectives”, including the Pareto optimal solutions, optimization schemes for the reservoir in 2009,2010 and 2015, and parameters discussion. The sheet “inflow data” shows inflow data of the Yangqu Reservoir from 2007 to 2016 in the spawning season. The sheets “Pareto optimal solution of 2009”, “Pareto optimal solution of 2010”, “Pareto optimal solution of 2015” show the Pareto optimal solutions of multi-objective optimization model in different hydrologic years, respectively. The sheets “Optimal operational scheme 2009”, “Optimal operational scheme 2010”, “Optimal operational scheme 2015” show the selected optimal operational scheme using the shrinking Pareto fronts method. The sheets “Fig.7”, “Fig.8” support the visualization of parameters discussion.
