Abstract

An artificial muscle linear actuator is proposed based on electromagnetically technology by analysis of the skeletal muscle structure and function. By simulating the microstructure of skeletal muscle, artificial muscles are composed of numerous fascicles of artificial muscle fibers. Artificial muscle fibers are composed of artificial sarcomeres arranged in series. The structure of artificial sarcomeres is designed and optimized. The simulation indicates that the linear electromagnetic series-parallel array artificial muscle possesses some good characteristics, such as high response speed, small volume, light quality, high power density ect.. The linear electromagnetic series-parallel array artificial muscle has good prospects for actual engineering application.
