Abstract

AbstractAutomated people movers (APM's) and moving‐sidewalks (belts) are used to reduce passenger walking distances within airport terminal systems. In this paper, mode choice for intra‐terminal travel by the three modes: APM, belt and walk, is modelled using partially disaggregate trinomial logit and probit models. The utility functions of these models are computed in terms of units of time, separated into time spent walking and time spent standing. The models are used to analyze travel to the proposed concourse E at Atlanta's Hartsfield Airport.
