Remote Data Entry (RDE) was initially conceived and utilized as an aid to assist data processing operations and this is still today and for tomorrow, an essential compo nent of RDE in the collection of clinical data. The current availability of commercial and in-house developed user-friendly programs together with the ability of interac tive communications between the investigator, the program, the clinical monitor's office, and main frame operations also enhance the ability to monitor clinical stud ies. This paper describes Schering Plough Research's experience from over 100 US and International study sites with three applications of RDE.
