Abstract

Subject of this article is a new cooling model based control system of a hot strip mill runout table. A method of combined global and local control is presented, using numerical and analytical models of the cooling process. A Quadratic Dynamic Matrix Control algorithm is applied to the cooling system on the ronout table of a 1700 Hot Strip Mill and the optimal tuning parameters are found.
