Multimodal navigation of presurgically implanted subdural electrodes for tailored epilepsy surgery after reoperation using the volume-rendering technique

Abstract

Question: Implantation of subdural strip, grid or depth electrodes is used routinely in epilepsy surgery to estimate the boundaries of the epileptogenic zone (EZ). As data post-processing, referenciation and 3D-visualization of the electrodes with anatomical structures is challenging especially in patients who undergo reoperation, we investigated the hypothesis if the “volume-rendering technique” can produce reliable and accurate data for multimodal neuronavigation.
