Abstract

A 16-year-old asymptomatic woman had a corrected visual acuity of 20/30 OS and 20/20 OD. The anterior segment of the left eye was unremarkable, whereas the fundus showed a well-demarcated flat perifoveal lesion with variegated pigmentation and scalloped margins (Fig. 1A) that was hypo/autofluorescent with a hyper/autofluorescent rim (B) with reverse pattern on fluorescein angiography—a hyperfluorescent centre with a hypofluorescent rim (C). Swept-source optical coherence tomography revealed retinal pigment epithelium loss with hypertransmission (black arrowhead) adjacent to a region of increased retinal pigment epithelium reflectivity and thickening (blue arrowhead, D).
