Multimodal gray image fusion metric based on complex wavelet structural similarity

Abstract

A novel multimodal gray image fusion metric is proposed based on complex wavelet structural similarity (CW-SSIM). The idea behind is that consistent phase changes with the wavelet coefficients corresponding to certain distortions in the image. Comparing with other common objective fusion metrics, the proposed metric correspond better to the subjective evaluation in the experiments.
