Abstract

This paper deals with the development of the multilevel simulation model of wireless power transfer coil system. The main purpose of this approach is related to the design of verified simulation model, whose main capabilities are related to the optimization purposes of the operational characteristics of WPT system, i.e., self- and mutual inductance identification, transfer characteristic influence, quality factor influence and radiated emission performance investigation. For these aims, the simulation model of the WPT coil is presented within FEA (finite element analysis) software. The electrical circuit of the WPT system is designed in PSpice software, and relevant input–output electrical variables are then supporting the FEA model for higher accuracy compared to the physical sample. In order to validate the accuracy of the model, the comparison of the transfer characteristic of proposed experimental prototype of WPT system is realized. At the end of the paper, the evaluation of various geometric alternatives of coil’s shielding is done in order to investigate its influence on the WPT performance.
