Abstract

In this study, tungsten bronze BaO·(Nd1−xBix)2O3·4TiO2(x=0, 0.1, and 0.2, BNBT) dielectric cofired with M-type barium ferrite Ba(Co,Ti)xFe12−2xO19(x=1.2, BaM(Co,Ti)1.2) magnetic ceramic was prepared via a low temperature cofired process using Bi2O3–B2O3–SiO2–ZnO (BBSZ) glass as a sintering aid. The BBSZ glass effectively reduced the sintering temperatures of these dielectric and magnetic ceramics through liquid phase sintering. With different amounts of glass, the BNBT dielectric and BaM(Co,Ti)1.2 magnetic materials were sintered at temperature between 900 and 1000°C with no second phase detected through XRD. The dielectric-glass and magnetic-glass multilayer composites showed excellent microstructures and very promising space efficient LC devices after sintering at 950°C.
