Abstract

The projective multigrid technique for a scalar field propagating in a disordered electromagnetic background is formulated in four dimensions. The possible advantages of a multigrid cycle with only a few levels are discussed in the context of four-dimensional systems. Computer simulations for highly disordered fields (near the confinement transition) yield a speedup by a factor of 4 for one level and about 10 for two levels, relative to the ideal of 4 and 16, respectively, for the zero-field case.
