Abstract
The multifunctional operation of an adaptive digital filter along with synchronization capability is presented in this paper. The performance is validated during reduction of solar insolation, load unbalancing and grid outage mode. When the grid is present, power transfer occurs from the solar PV array to the utility grid and local loads connected at the point of common coupling (PCC) along with distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) capabilities. The total harmonic distortion (THD) of the grid current is in compliance with an IEEE-519 standard thereby guaranteeing satisfactory performance along-with reduction in losses of the distribution network. Moreover, during grid outage or islanded mode of operation, the voltage controller is utilized for delivering power from solar PV array to local loads. The performance is validated though simulation results and the system behaviour is observed for unbalanced load, variable solar insolation and grid connected-islanded mode change conditions.
