Abstract

To enhance oil recovery (EOR) in fields with hard-to-recover reserves, including deposits of high-viscosity oils, new chemical intelligent system, namely multifunctional composition (MFC) based on a surfactant, complex of buffer systems and a coordinating solvent, with an adjustable viscosity and high oil displacement ability in the wide temperature range of 20–210°C has been created at the Institute of Petroleum Chemistry SB RAS. The composition has a high buffer capacity in a wide pH range, 2.5–10.5 units pH, low interfacial tension and low freezing point (–20÷–50°C), delayed reaction with carbonate rocks, is compatible with mineralized formation waters, increases the permeability of reservoirs. The composition is both oil-displacing and flow-diverting, it provides an enhance in the oil recovery factor, both due to the increase in the displacement factor and the reservoir sweep by waterflooding or thermal steam stimulation. In 2020– 2021, large-scale field trials at the pilot site of the Permian-Carboniferous high-viscosity oil reservoir of the Usinsk field (11 injection wells, 113 production wells) are being successfully carried out. EOR technology provides for alternating injection of MFC and hot water with a temperature of 210°C.
