Abstract

We have performed multi-frequency electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements in magnetic fields H of up to 14 T on single crystals of LiCuVO 4 that is regarded as the spin 1/2 quasi-one dimensional magnet with a ferromagnetic nearest neighbor and an antiferromagnetic next nearest neighbor exchange interactions. We have found a low energy excitation mode above about 8 T for H ∥ a and H ∥ b where a collinear spin-modulated structure was observed by NMR in addition to two excitation ESR modes observed in all the field directions up to 14 T.
