Abstract

We examine the multifractal characteristics of proton - CNO and proton - AgBr interactions at 800 GeV for their consistency with the negative binomial distribution in decreasing central bin sizes in pseudorapidity phase space. The observed values of multiplicity moments and those derived from negative binomial fits agree well with each other. The behaviour of the values of generalized dimensions for multiplicity fluctuations typifies multifractality in the data and agrees well, not only qualitatively but also quantitatively, with the corresponding values based on negative binomial fits.
