Abstract

Geometry may be the most important physical property that distinguishes sedimentary rocks from all other porous media. Fractal analysis is becoming a common tool for analyzing geometry of objects occurring in nature. There have been several attempts to characterize sedimentary rocks using the “Hausdorff-Besicovitch” fractal dimension. Recent developments in the fractal theories have suggested that a full treatment of geometric shapes should come through its multifractal description.1
