Abstract

Sirs: HCV infection is occasionally associated with neurological manifestations, mainly affecting the peripheral nervous system (PNS) in the form of a sensory axonal polyneuropathy [1]; demyelinating forms are rarely documented [2]. Most frequently, there is an association with essential mixed cryoglobulinaemia [3, 4]; however, some cases without cryoglobulinaemia have been described for isolated peripheral [5] and central presentations [6–9].We report the first reported association of CNS and PNS demyelinating lesions with a concomitant active HCV infection and absent cryoglobulinaemia.
