Abstract

The multiferroic properties of La0.7Ba0.3MnO3 (LBMO)/P(VDF-TrFE) (0-3) nano-composite films were investigated for different volume fraction of LBMO particles. The LBMO particles were prepared by sol-gel auto combustion method and these are found to be ferromagnetic at room temperature. The pure P(VDF-TrFE) and La0.7Ba0.3MnO3(LBMO)/P(VDF-TrFE) composite films (30 μm thick) were prepared via solution casting method. It was found that composite films are ferromagnetic at room temperature and the magnetization increases with increase in volume fraction of LBMO. The proper ferroelectric hysteresis loop is observed for P(VDF-TrFE), 0.5% and 1% LBMO/P(VDF-TrFE) composite films. The ferroelectric properties of composite films were deteriorated for higher volume fraction of LBMO. The composite films having less than 2% volume fraction of LBMO in P(VDF-TrFE) exhibit multiferroic properties at room temperature, which can be used for device applications.
