Abstract

Bi0.85Pr0.15Fe0.9Co0.1O3 (BPFCO) thin films were deposited on Pt(111)/TiO2/SiO2/Si(100) substrates, with SrRuO3 as buffer layer, by radio frequency magnetron sputtering. Polarization measurement of the unannealed film exhibited a clear double hysteresis loop with a large remnant polarization of 81μC/cm2. However, the double hysteresis loop phenomenon was suppressed in the BPFCO thin films annealed under pure oxygen atmosphere. The related mechanism for the appearance of double hysteresis loops was found to be due to defect dipoles associated with the oxygen vacancy. The magnetic property analysis presents further evidences for double hysteresis loop characteristic in the unannealed BPFCO thin films.
