Abstract

Comprehensive mental health services which includes medical therapists with psychological and social support increases co-morbidity in the treatment and reduces the frequency of psychotic relapse, leading to better treatment outcomes (better remission of psychopathology, better personal and social functioning, improved quality of life) and more favorable social indicators (less stigma , stability of housing, work rehabilitation, community life). RECOVER -E (Extensive Implementation of Mental Health Care in the Local Community for Persons with Severe and Enduring Mental Disorders in Europe) the project activities aim to implement effective, multidisciplinary mental health community teams (TMZZs) in 5 Central and South-Eastern European countries, which will represent the central nodus for coordination and implementation of mental disorders treatment for people with severe mental illnesses. Namely, this kind of treatment is still not fully developed in this part of Europe, and human capacity building, evidence-based, medicine based postulates and community-based treatment outcomes tailored to local circumstances and aimed at patient recovery can be significant encouraging policy makers to continue and strengthen these activities.
