Abstract

Abstract We propose a device that can be used as a multidirectional surface wave splitter and a polarization analyzer, simultaneously. Such a device could function as a plasmonic wavelength-division multiplexer, because electromagnetic waves at the designed frequencies will be confined and guided along different multiple grating structures that are placed around the square hole. At the same time, different polarizations could cause different directions of propagation, so this device could also function as a polarization analyzer. The simulation results demonstrate the good performance of the splitter and polarization analyzer. This device would be useful for terahertz integrated optical circuits, biological sensing, and chemical.
