Abstract

ABSTRACT In this study, it is aimed to determine the poverty of the older adults in Türkiye in a multidimensional way and to propose solutions for this issue. In the analysis, which included 3 dimensions and 15 sub-indicators, it was determined that the areas where the older adults with a sample size of 8,417 experienced the most deprivation were health problems and limitations in physical activities, as well as living space with inadequate physical conditions, failure to meet the heating expenses of the house, and severe deprivation in nutrition indicators. In addition, the total deprivation numbers of older adults obtained from the Alkire-Foster method were categorized and included as a dependent variable in the ordinal logit model. In the light of the findings, when education levels are taken into account, it is found that older adults with primary school education and above are less likely to be poor than those without education. In line with the results obtained, policy recommendations have been made for the elimination of multidimensional poverty of older adults.
