Abstract

Abstract The Langgak Field in Rokan Hulu – Riau, Central Sumatra Basin has been discovered in 1975 and started producing oil in 1979 in Sihapas sand (Bekasap Fm) as the main reservoir. This Sihapas sand has been produced for several decades and has significant increase in water cut over the years. SPR Langgak sub-surface team trying to develop a new reservoir (Telisa sand) to optimize oil production. Telisa sand has deposited widely and has covered all Langgak areas above sihapas sand. Telisa sand reservoir was deposited regionally over the entire Central Sumatra Basin with an area of 10,000 km2 during the early to mid-Miocene. The characteristic of Telisa sand is the thin sedimentation (20 feet), shallow depth, and unconsolidated sand. Well LGK#24 is chosen as a pilot project of Multi-cycle fracturing since this well has the most thickness sand compared to other well and also shows good resistivity as an indicator of oil presence. The author would to share this case history thru this paper about the potential of thin, shallow, and low resistivity reservoirs that can contribute to production enhancement, especially in a brownfield.
