Multicultural society to a fresh set of the Dangun myth

Abstract

This study intends to suggest a new perspective of immigrants in the multicultural society through the character of “WoongNyo” in the Dangun myth and to correct the negative cognition of the immigrants and multicultural society. Generally, the negative gaze such as “be sold female” or “from poor country” toward the migrated female impact to the multi-cultural family and society with discordant acculturation. By approaching the rite of passage which was endured by her with eating only garlics and mugworts in the cave, seeking the positive direction of life for immigrants and idea for multicultural society. Moreover the effectiveness of cultural education was verified in this study by giving lesson to the university students with the “Dangun” myth. At the beginning of course, the cognition for immigrants and the image of multicultural society was collected by interview and survey and then analyzed the changes after the cultural education with “Dangun” myth. As a results, the positive image from “WoongNyo” made the evolution of cognition to the images of immigrants in the multicultural society.
