Multicultural Race Relations in Britain: Problems of Interpretation and Explanation

Abstract

AbstractThis chapter analyses race relations in Britain. It discusses Muslims and multiculturalism in Britain, British Europhobia, British and European immigration politics, and the history of multicultural race relations in Britain. Much of the problems of British multiculturalism are attributed to its support for the concept of “multiculturalism in one nation,” which hinges on the shaky idea of British national unity. It raises the possibility of British blacks and Asians being excluded from a re-emerging English nationalism.
