Abstract

“The principle of Transcultural Nursing was born within the broader concept of Human Care: care that individual or group provide in order to improve their condition or lifestyle. Caring is an universal phenomena but its expressions and ways to be performed follows the culture to whom it belongs. Transcultural Nursing promotes cross-cultural and ethical reflections to adapt care to the continuous changes in society and people. Language is the first and bigger critical step for providing the appropriate care: a real barrier for nurses and patients relationship. The goal to pursue is to find cultural and practical tools useful in everyday life to improve communication and foster the relationship towards therapeutic education. Focus groups, literature review, analysis and sharing of the difficulties of the caring team are the first steps for implementing the pathway to improvement. The use of resource mediator showed to be easy to access and use. The contribution of antropology could be an interesting complement to nursing for answering to the need to provide a culturally competent care.
