Abstract

A multicomponent seismic laboratory experiment was conducted to examine the seismic signature of a simulated ore‐body structure. The data were processed using a new form of controlled direction reception (CDR) filter, which operates in tau‐p‐polarisation space, so as to isolate the P and S waves. The four CDR sections showed PP, SS, PS and SP wave reflections, and all mode conversions. From these, the geometry and reflectivity of the ore‐body can be reconstructed. With single component recording and processing, imaging of the ore is extremely difficult.
