Abstract

A multicenter, prospective clinical study was conducted to evaluate the clinical performance of Acuvue plus power contact lenses in hyperopic and monovision patients over a 3-month period. A total of 160 patients were enrolled, with 155 completing 3 months of wear. Patients were divided among three wear schedules: 1-week disposable extended wear, 2-week disposable extended wear, and 2-week frequent replacement daily wear. Lens fit was judged to be good or acceptable in 100% of patients screened for the study. Distance visual acuity with Acuvue was comparable to spectacle refraction. Subjective assessments of vision and comfort on awakening and throughout the day were significantly better than those for patients' prestudy lenses. No significant differences among the three Acuvue wear schedules were noted in any of the slit-lamp categories evaluated.
