Abstract

In the Skyrme model the spectrum of multibaryon states is computed. Only the B = 2 state is stable. The stability of multibaryon states in the quark model is analyzed as a function of the number of colors (N) and the number of flavors (n). It is found that the spectra of the Skyrme model and the quark model qualitatively agree if N = n = 3 but disagree for an infinite number of colors or flavors.
