Abstract

Power grid intellectualization is an important method to promote the development of renewable energy source and implement energy conservation and emission reduction. Along with the increasing development of power electronics, IT and communication technologies, the construction of smart grid is becoming an important development direction of electric power industry. Smart distribution grid is a critical part of smart grid and fault location plays an important role in smart distribution grid, so it is very important to study fault location for smart distribution grid. Every smart distribution unit is regarded as an agent and all agents construct a multiagent system. Every agent detects synchronously the corresponding feeder information in real-time. When one feeder is fault, every agent obtains transient zero voltage and current and computes transient zero reactive power in special frequency bands. Through communication and collaboration among agents, all fault information is shared. According comparing to amplitude and direction of transient zero reactive power between neighbor nodes, the fault section is located. The simulation results show that the multi-agent based fault location system for smart distribution grid not only realizes accurate location of fault section, but also possess stronger robustness.
