Abstract

This paper presents a multi-agent based operation and control of distribution system with dispersed power sources such as a photo-voltaic unit, a wind generation unit, a diesel generation unit, and an energy capacitor system (ECS) for the energy storage. An advanced load following operation has been proposed through the coordination of controllable power sources between the diesel unit and the energy capacitor system (ECS) with small capacity. All the required information for the proposed operation is transferred between the diesel unit and the ECS through computer networks. All the control function has been achieved by using the proposed multi-agent based control system. Simulation studies have been performed to investigate the degradation of control performance caused by the communication delay time through computer networks. The proposed control scheme has highly improved control performance even in the existence of the communication delay time.
