Abstract

Conventional m-out-of-n and Berger codes are known uniform- and equal-weight codes respectively. They are useful in error analysis, self-checking, mutual matching for searching and many aspects in telecommunication, computer architecture and circuit design. In this letter the multi-valued equal-weight codes are proposed for self-checking in asymmetric communication and mutual-matching for look-aside interface. Based on proposed theory a 3-T DRAM-based CAM cell and a 1-T flash-based multi-valued CAM cell can be systematically designed with reduced transistors, low power and high dependability.
