Abstract

The dense nanoscale morphology and arrangement of proteins within the synapse of neuronal tissue was difficult to visualize until the development of superresolution microscopy. Here, we show the application of multi-target DNA-PAINT in semi-thin (400 nm) brain sections of the medial nucleus of the trapezoid body (MNTB) from rat tissue. Four targets were imaged in situ to visualize the organization of calyces of Held presynapses, proteins within the active zone, and the postsynaptic principal cells with its postsynaptic density.
