Abstract

An expression for the deuteron stripping cross section is obtained, taking into account the intermediate excitations of the rotational and non-rotational types. All the rotational states are included using the adiabatic approximation, while the other types of nuclear excitations are treated by the coupled equations. The result is illustrated using perturbation theory. The spectroscopic amplitudes of the intermediate transitions are calculated in the framework of the microscopic nuclear model. The theory is applied to the 154Gd(d, p) 155Gd stripping reaction. A detailed analysis is made.
