Abstract

In this paper, we propose transmission of video signal at one rate and data signal at another rate using fast frequency hopping code division multiple access (FH CDMA) over wireless fading conditions. In this method modulation codes of any desired length and weight can be used on top of FH CDMA and frequency hopping patterns can also have any desired length and weight, which makes the system to easily avoid any specific frequency band for transmission for the time in which interference is present in that frequency band. We use short and long hopping patterns to facilitate different rate transmissions. Improvements in data rates and number of user can be seen as compared to conventional MFSK CDMA in which only one data rate is supported and fixed modulation parameters are to be used, by paying in form of little worse performance. Our system can meet requirements of multimedia services as it supports different signaling rates. Flexibility in modulation and frequency hopping can be used to meet quality of services requirements.
