Introduction

Environmental pollution and global climate change have emerged as one of the major challenges of the twenty-first century with governments worldwide racing to curb their countries’ environ­ mental impacts. This was evident in the recent Paris climate deal where more than 200 countries formally signed an agreement to do this (Salawitch et al, 2017). Industries around the world are looking at options to meet the market demand in a more environmentally responsible way (Dayaratne & Gunawardana, 2015; Habib et al, 2020). There have been few efforts to tackle its negative environmental impacts (Jawjit et al, 2015)
