Abstract

Methodology of the multi-matrix GD-OES analysis is discussed, with emphasis on the properties of spectrometers with simultaneous solid-state detectors. General considerations regarding the calibration model are presented, as well as an attempt to use a set of emission lines for a single element to improve accuracy of the analysis. In the analysis of the matrix elements in Fe–Ni–Cr alloys on a CCD-based spectrometer, several emission lines were tested for every matrix element. Two composite estimates of the certified concentrations were defined: the average and the median of a set of the estimates based on calibration functions for every single line of the selected set of lines. It was found that the composite estimates are giving a better accuracy than those single-line estimates.
