Abstract
The Nd 60Fe 30Al 10 alloy prepared at slow cooling rate is partly amorphous, while that obtained at quenching rate of 30 m/s is fully amorphous. All samples contain two main phases: one hard magnetic phase ordering above room temperature and a soft one ordering at about 50 K. The hard phase has an intrinsic coercivity as high as 8 T at 4 K and is supposedly originated from a cluster amorphous or ill-crystallized state. Besides, there is a minor magnetically soft phase ordering at about 260 K in the slowly cooled samples and about 250 K in the 30 m/s melt-spun sample.
