Abstract

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) gain popularity owing to their capability to access remote areas hard to be reached. Given that, the energy consumption with multi-hop transmission will be a major issue, and how to manage the energy of sensor node becomes the focus of research, attracting many works proposed to save the energy consumption when sensors send data to a sink node. Apart from the previous works, we propose here a Multi-hop in Clustering with Mobility (MCM) model and compare its energy usage with that of other techniques on multi-hop, clustering, mobility, and direct transmission. Through the simulation study conducted, we show that this work can shed light on choosing a good approach to minimize the energy utilization of the sensor node in WSNs.
