Abstract

This is the second part of the review on multi-hazard coupling effects in chemical process industry (CPI) in which the existing methodologies on different topics related to multi-hazard coupling effects are especially concerned. To obtain a better insight into the current research, a preliminary categorization is performed based on two research topics and five corresponding research issues. The research advances and gaps are investigated. It turns out that the related research is still in its infancy. There is still a fertile field for future research. Based on the gaps in previous research, perspectives on the future development in this emerging research field are provided from four aspects: coupling hazard-formative mechanism analysis, modeling the multi-hazard coupling effects with advanced uncertainty analysis approaches, dynamic risk assessment for complex CPI system, and accident prevention from system resilience perspectives. This review provides academics with the picture of the interconnections among different categories of studies and helps the researchers to identify the research advances and future perspectives in this field.
