Abstract

Several papers presented before the S.A.E. Summer Meeting at Atlantic City this year were concerned ?with the new multi‐graded low viscosity motor oils. It was agreed by all authors that oils such as SAE 5W/20, SAE 20W/30, etc., were here to stay and at the same time there was general agreement that high viscosity index oils meet modern engine requirements best. It is of course due to the availability of V.I. improvers that it is possible to provide these multiple viscosity grades.
